Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation of the site, consisting of the excavation of two trial trenches, 2.7m by 8.1m and 8.5m by 2.15m, was undertaken across the site prior to proposed development across it. The surface of alluvial gravel was overlain by truncated external soil. Cutting through this deposit was a quarry pit, with backfill dating to the late 18th century. The pit was excavated during a period of known building activity in Walthamstow Village. [Au(adp)] |
