Abstract: |
A watching brief was carried out during groundworks for an extension. Late 19th to early 20th century cellaring was recorded, and a sequence of early modern construction and demolition layers was observed, interspersed with garden activity of a similar date. A pit containing late medieval pottery was found, and a 19th century well was noted. Post-medieval garden soils were also present. Nineteen fragments of animal bone, including sheep and cow remains, were recovered; this probably reflected documented use of buildings at the site by butchers in the 19th century. [Au(adp)] |
