Abstract: |
A watching brief during construction works for alterations to buildings to form office accommodation identified a narrow trench thought to be associated with the foundations of former buildings and a substantial section of stone wall, which although located within an area thought to contain part of Newark's southern medieval defences, was of significantly different materials and character to other sections of town defences seen elsewhere.
