Abstract: |
Two areas of high archaeological potential were investigated in advance of a proposed woodland planting scheme. Documentary sources were consulted and field observations were made. Kilham Hill (area 1) had evidence of ploughing, but it was impossible to attribute a date; possible prehistoric activity was also noted. Kilham West (area 2) was seen as part of a wider land-management scheme, it was tentatively suggested that it formed part of a medieval or post-medieval land improvement scheme centred on the diversion or improvement of Kilham Burn. Further work was recommended. [Au(adp)] |
