Abstract: |
A geophysical survey was carried out over an area of 2ha at the site of a proposed residential development. High resistance linear anomalies were identified, caused by extant ridge and furrow earthworks, land drains and a stone capped stream. Areas of low resistance reflected differential water retention in the topsoil/subsoil, some of which may have been associated with a palaeochannel. Other less coherent areas of high resistance broadly reflected the topography/extant earthworks, which were visible across the site. There was no evidence for the position of a former tithe barn.
