Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation was undertaken in response to a planning condition. A desk-based assessment had shown that there were no known archaeological remains within the site that could be considered a major constraint to development. However, the potential existed for archaeological remains within the site either as single finds or as areas of possible watercourse exploitation. A profile of brickearth suggesting the former course of a stream was found on the east of the main factory during a borehole and test-pit survey, which also identified modern deposits located to the west within the service road. The evaluation trench revealed modern made ground to at least 0.5m in depth below current ground level overlying natural deposits of brickearth. In many places the made ground was 1m or greater in depth. No features or finds of archaeological interest were found. [Au(abr)] |
