Abstract: |
Seven trial trenches were excavated in response to a planning condition, but no archaeological features or deposits were revealed. However, the evaluation identified made ground deposits across most of the land to the front and rear of the properties on the development site. In some trenches the remains of a truncated old plough soil was identified. A limited quantity of finds, collected from the made ground deposits, suggested a post-medieval date. Finds from trenches 5 and 6 included one sherd of pottery of Roman date, one of Saxon date and fourteen medieval sherds. [Au(adp)] |
