Abstract: |
Three trial trenches were excavated as an evaluation in advance of the proposed construction of houses. Features relating to a horticultural nursery, which had occupied the site since the First World War but had recently closed, cut into the natural clay. The natural clay and the features were overlain by topsoil. There were no medieval or earlier features or finds in any of the trenches and the report concluded that there was no evidence in the evaluation trenches for settlement or human activity on the site before the late post-medieval period.
