Abstract: |
Assessment of land proposed for development identified that prior to modern development, from at least 1841 the proposal area had been largely occupied agricultural land, mostly belonging to the glebe. The topography of cottages and associated boundaries on the north side of the site showed no sign of being ancient. In 1870 the Burbage national school was built. The northern area of the development area was occupied by a post-war built plastics factory. In spite of the modern development of the site it was argued that the possible survival of Saxon or medieval occupation remains could not be ruled out. [AIP] |
