| Abstract: |
A watching brief was carried out during topsoil stripping and levelling at the site of a new house. Iron Age cremation burials had been found at an uncertain location in the vicinity, and an Iron Age settlement had been partially excavated to the north. During the watching brief, an irregular oval feature containing Iron Age loomweights and Late Iron Age pottery, a rectangular feature containing early Roman pottery and a piece of loomweight, and a linear gully containing pottery suggestive of a Late Iron Age date were recorded. It was concluded that these features were likely to have been associated with the nearby Iron Age settlement. [AIP] |
