Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation was undertaken in advance of a housing development. Work was started in 2003 but was deferred until 2004 because of environment issues concerning the presence of slow-worms. The eventual results of further evaluation indicated the presence of Romano-British activity confined to the south-west corner of the site. The nature of the activity was unclear, but sufficient pottery, including Samian Ware and a small quantity of glass suggested the proximity of a reasonably high status site. Colluvium on the rest of the site contained prehistoric abraded pottery and burnt flints which were thought likely to have derived from a site further to the south-west. [Au(adp)] |
