Abstract: |
An excavation was carried out at the site of a vent shaft for the London Underground Jubilee Line Extension. Neolithic artefacts, a bronze age burial mound, iron age ditches and a Roman settlement had been recorded in the surrounding area. A medieval priory lay nearby. During the excavation, a Roman gravel surface and a medieval wooden revetment were revealed. Roman, medieval and post-medieval pottery was found, and twelve post-medieval burials were recorded.
