Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation was undertaken on the site of a proposed drive-in restaurant. Evidence of the previous levelling of the site was recovered as well as features associated with Victorian houses. No features of archaeological significance were noticed and the only finds recovered were four sherds of probable late medieval pottery and two worked flints. The high archaeological potential of the site was not backed up by the results of the evaluation. The site appears to be peripheral of any occupation and any archaeological deposits would also have been damaged during earlier housing and levelling on the site. [Au(abr)] |
