Abstract: |
A desk-based assessment was undertaken which showed that there were sites of particular archaeological importance within the estate, which would be adversely affected by the proposed development. These sites comprised, first, a low earth bank dome 8m wide by 50m long and aligned south-west/north-east, which was recorded in park land to the north-east of Hollywood Tower mansion. There was a possibility that it was a section of the Roman road between Abonae (Sea Mills) ad Glevum (Gloucester). On the northern edge of the study area were two previously recorded sites, a deserted tenement and a possible medieval toft. [Au(abr)] |
