Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief monitored works associated with the development of the Hadrian's Wall Path National Trail within the SAM of Hadrian's Wall and associated features between the boundary east of Turret 34a and the field boundary west of Milecastle 36 in Wall Miles 34, 35 and 36 (SM26057). This part of the path also lay within the Hadrian's Wall World Heritage Site. The works comprised the manual excavation of a small flooded area directly in front of an existing gateway in advance of drainage works. Despite its proximity to Hadrian's Wall, however, no significant archaeological deposits were recorded during the watching brief and no artefacts were recovered. [Au(abr)] |
