Abstract: |
Nine 12m by 12m trenches were excavated across the site. The results included an undated alluvial sequence, a post-medieval pond and 18th century back plot or garden features. Various brick footings and floors relating to the 19th century Brinton's Carpet factory and significant remains of the 'Hercules' engine house constructed in 1879 were recorded. The engine house remains were preserved in situ. [Au] |
