Abstract: |
Previous assessments and surveys had indicated that there was a potential for archaeological remains to be present on the site. Eight trenches were excavated focused on the results of the previous geophysical survey, principally two parallel linear features and a possible windmill site identified by the desk-top assessment. No evidence for the presence of a windmill was recovered. Of four trenches placed over the line of the linear geophysical anomalies, only one contained a feature close to the projected location. This feature contained pottery of Late Neolithic date, but the coincidence of location may have been entirely fortuitous. A number of other features were also located, but remained undated.
