Abstract: |
A proposed water main was close to the know sites including Iron Age and Roman salt processing sites and Bronze Age burial mound locations in addition to settlement remains. Topsoil stripping of the easement may have revealed archaeological remains that were not masked by alluvium. A further section of the main to the east of Hall Meadow may have needed to be laid within a similar easement. Hall Meadow was a Scheduled Ancient Monument containing surface indications of Iron Age saltern site. [Au(abr)] |
