Abstract: |
Three trenches were arranged across the site. Trench one revealed made ground overlying a natural river silt deposit. Trench 2 revealed only made ground. Trench 3 revealed made ground overlying an alluvial deposit. The evidence for the earliest human activity on the site composed of fragments of burnt flint in the Trench 3 organic-rich alluvial deposit. It was therefore believed that this deposit may have represented marshy ground in the immediate vicinity of a prehistoric settlement or other activities. It was recommended the site be assessed for its ability to date and identify the nature of the environment and local human activity. [Au(adp)] |
