Abstract: |
The proposed development site was located opposite the parish church within an area which may have been part of the medieval Market Place. Early Ordnance Survey maps marked the location of St Leonard's Priory in the street next to the development site. Although it was felt that its more likely location was to the east, the possibility of monastic remains being found on the site could not be ruled out. The potential for medieval or earlier buildings along the street frontage was considered to be high. [Au] |
