Abstract: |
Archaeological excavation was undertaken within the area of the future Nano Fabrication Building to investigate archaeological features identified in the evaluation. The excavation revealed a length of the Iron Age ditch and the post-medieval backfilling of the medieval ridge and furrow field system. One further possible feature was identified as a tree throw. The lack of Romano-British period features on the site suggested that the former Vicars Farm Romano-British settlement was limited to that area of excavation and did not extend this far to the south.
