Abstract: |
The evaluation was carried out in advance of a proposed housing estate development and involved the excavation of eleven trenches. One archaeological feature was identified consisting of a prehistoric gully, pottery from the fill was dated to the Iron Age. A total of 14 earlier calcined flints were also recovered from the gully which indicated that the gully could have been recut. There were no other archaeological remains located, however, due to the presence of the gully it was recommended that an intermittent archaeological watching brief be maintained during the next phase of building works.
