Abstract: |
A Fluxgate gradiometer survey was carried out ahead of a proposed residential development. Archaeological features were detected in the western part of the proposed area, consisting of a rectilinear enclosure and smaller ditched features which formed a possible settlement. Probable ridge and furrow remains were also detected in this area. No features of archaeological significance were detected in the eastern part of the development area. The presence of large amounts of ferrous/fired litter and ferrous service pipes may have masked the presence of weaker magnetic anomalies, which could have related to archaeological features. Further trial trenching was recommended. [Au(adp)] |
