Abstract: |
An evaluation was carried out at the proposed site of a marina, where an earlier geophysical survey had revealed two blocks of parallel linear anomalies, possibly indicative of ploughed-out ridge and furrow. The surface of the field had preserved a complex microtopography, suggesting Holocene fluvial disturbance of the underlying terrace gravels. During the evaluation, a single trench was excavated across an approximately oval geomagnetic anomaly. A sequence of silty and sandy clay deposits, probably of fluvial origin, was revealed, but no archaeological features or deposits were recorded. [AIP] |
