Abstract: |
No anomalies of definite archaeological interest were detected. Survey had recorded three pit-type anomalies which might have had an archaeological explanation, however, this was tentative and they may have reflected more deeply buried ferrous debris. Two trends were noted, however, their lack of form and signal strength rendered any interpretation speculative. The data was dominated by numerous parallel linear responses that were attributed to agricultural practice, although it was not clear whether these were modern or of greater antiquity. The data also contained numerous ferrous responses and areas of magnetic disturbance. These were attributed to adjacent buildings, field boundaries and other modern debris. Detailed gradiometry was undertaken of an area of c.2ha with the aim of locating any detectable archaeological remains. This survey formed part of a wider archaeological evaluation being undertaken by John Samuels Archaeological consultants in advance of development. [Au(abr)] |
