Abstract: |
The evaluation proved the presence of a low-lying area between the medieval and earlier settlements of Kings End and Market End. This area was marsh-like and prone to flooding. This also explained the name Causeway that was obviously constructed to span this wet area and to link the two areas of settlement. The investigation proved that the area evaluated behind the gardens of 17 Causeway was not in use prior to the post-medieval period and no remains of any importance were present. [Au(abr)] |
