Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief was undertaken during the machine excavation of 134 holes for the removal of 22 pylons and the erection of 48 poles. Little evidence of archaeological significance was identified, apart from post-medieval finds. However the work did facilitate the compilation of a simple record of the character, extent and thickness of alluvial deposits at intervals along a transect through the floor of the Trent Valley. During the course of the fieldwork, a note was made of possible archaeologically significant features on neighbouring land. [Au(adp)] |
