Abstract: |
An assessment of SMR information relating to a site proposed for road improvements identified that the possible site of a barrow lay within the proposal area, and that earthworks representing the remains of the Surrey Iron Railway crossed the site. Several cast iron rails of this railway survived to the south, whilst a Roman coin and two Neolithic maceheads, one unfinished, had been found in the vicinity. It was concluded that a more detailed study of background information should be carried out, followed by a programme of field survey and evaluation. [AIP] |
