Abstract: |
The area due for redevelopment centred on Cornwall Street and was first developed around 1700 to provide accommodation for the workforce in the recently constructed dockyard. There was a rapid expansion of housing over the next few decades and by 1765 the present day street plan had been established. Since this time numerous changes have occured within the area with the demolision of some of the buildings making way for new buildings in the late 1800's, early 1900's, of which are still standing.[Au(abr)] |
