Abstract: |
<summary>Newton Hall, variously described as early 17th century with later additions, and as rebuilt in the early 17th century and incorporating earlier fabric, was demolished in 1965. The site of the hall was the subject of a planning application and accordingly an evaluation was carried out. The evaluation revealed that foundations of the hall were well-preserved, and the elements recovered appeared to date from the 17th to the 19th or 20th century. In addition, it was clear that the west wing had been constructed over an earlier, probably medieval feature. {italon}AIP{italoff} |
