Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation, consisting of the excavation of five trial trenches, was undertaken. The modern overburden of building foundations and demolition deposits directly overlay the natural gravels and clay, indicating that earlier deposits had been truncated. A 1787 silver shilling of George III was recovered from the modern deposits in trench 1. In trench 2 a shallow, undated, curvilinear ditch was recorded. Towards the southern end of trench 3, an undated linear ditch, orientated NW/SE, was recorded. No other archaeological features or finds were revealed. [Au(adp)] |
