Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief was undertaken on sections of a water pipeline. At the western end on the pipeline, deposits associated with earlier medieval phases of westgate and the main road through the village were recorded. At the eastern end of the corridor two shallow ditches were recorded in the roadside verge. The location of the ditches coincided with cropmarks of a droveway recorded on an aerial photograph. No evidence for the north to south aligned Roman road was recorded. [Au] |
