Abstract: |
A desktop survey undertaken on the proposed development site was accompanied by trial auger boreholes. Four maps showed the site occupied by buildings with gardens to the rear. As it seemed unlikely that any of the buildings would have had cellars, they would not have had substantial footings. It was therefore possible that archaeological deposits would have remained intact. Augering work was abandoned after the first hole as it was impossible to auger through a stony deposit. [Au(abr)] |
