Abstract: |
An evaluation was carried out at the proposed site of a residential development. Earlier desk-based assessment had identified no features of archaeological significance within the proposal area, although numerous sites and findspots had been recorded in the immediate vicinity. During the evaluation, no features of archaeological significance were revealed, with the exception of a ridge and furrow field system which had also been identified in adjacent areas. No clearly stratified finds were recovered to date this system, although it was probably of medieval origin. No significant, well-stratified finds were recovered, although a small flint flake, a copper alloy coin with an illegible surface and two sherds of post-medieval pottery were noted. [AIP] |
