Abstract: |
Desk based assessment identified that the proposed development area probably lay outside the medieval demesne manor, which was held by Westminster Abbey and located in the vicinity. During the post-medieval period the proposed development site lay to the north of a substantial building shown on Speed's map of 1610, was empty of buildings in 1836, but within the grounds of a school by 1888.
