Abstract: |
Following monitored topsoil stripping, a series of archaeological features were revealed. These were subsequently shown to represent three distinct phases of activity. Three launders, one buddle and spreads of tinning waste represent the earliest phase and were directly associated with the dressing floor and stamps. Two pits and a spread filled with burnt smithing waste related to the 1820s use of the blowing houses as a smithy shop. The latest phase was recent and primarily related to domestic trenches and a footpath.[Au(abr)] |
