Abstract: |
The assessment identified nearby prehistoric and Romano-British activity which may have continued into the proposed development area. The site was located within a medieval field system with ridge and furrow recorded on aerial photographs, extending across the whole site. The north-west and west of the site were built on during the 1940s and much of the site had been subject to dumping from that date onwards. Nevertheless, it was considered likely that dumped material would have sealed rather than truncated any surviving archaeological deposits. [Au(abr)] |
