Abstract: |
22 trenches were excavated over geophysical anomalies and "blank" areas of the site as part of an interim evaluation in response to proposed aggregate extraction at the site. Sparsely distributed prehistoric features were located as shown by the geophysical survey, as well as an iron smelting site and a well, as well as what appeared to be an in-site furnace. Adjacent to the Scheduled Roman villa site, an undated ditch and flue were identified. Ploughed-out ridge and furrow were recorded across the site. [Au(adp)] |
