Abstract: |
An assessment of aerial photographs, together with geophysical scanning of a site proposed for a housing development, was followed by a programme of rapid trial excavation. Fieldwork confirmed the suspected low density of archaeology within the application site. A section of Romano-British ditch located in the north-west part of the site and a separate area of dumped debris of the same period in the south-east were identified. Elsewhere, fragmentary remains of ridge and furrow cultivation together with sections of medieval or later boundary ditches were identified. [AIP] |
