Abstract: |
The archaeological earthwork survey recorded a number of features relating to medieval agricultural activity and post-medieval landscaped park. Ridge and furrow earthworks were recorded as well as the post-medieval landscaped park. The ridge and furrow earthworks were encountered over much of the survey area and the remains of a tree lined hollowly and ornamental pond were identified. Monitoring of the topsoil stripping revealed further traces of medieval ridge and furrow field systems and the remains of an undated compacted gravel pathway which may have formed part of the designed landscape of Londesborough Park.
