Abstract: |
A watching brief was carried out during the excavation of a service trench within the grounds of a school. The northern earthwork defences of the early medieval town of Wallingford, comprised of a large bank and ditch (Scheduled Ancient Monument No. Oxon 284), lay immediately to the south, and a medieval rubbish pit had been excavated to the east. During the watching brief, no archaeological deposits were observed and no finds were recovered. [AIP] |
