Abstract: |
Two trenches were excavated on the proposed conservatory site in the north-west part of the Scheduled Ancient Monument, a medieval ringwork castle. No features of medieval or earlier date were found indicating that either no structures were present in this part of the ringwork, or that later post-medieval and recent structures had removed the evidence for the medieval horizons. A sherd of medieval pottery was recovered from the material above the natural clay. The only features discovered during the course of the evaluation were all of post-medieval date or associated with the recently demolished barn. [Au(abr)] |
