Abstract: |
<summary>A watching brief was carried out during the machine clearance of the leat which runs from the River Plym down to Big Pond and the china clay works. The leat, which truncates and adjoins several Scheduled Ancient Monuments, is itself of historic interest. It was probably cut in 1809 to supply the Bottle Hill Mine. Silt and weeds were cleared from the channel and the banks were repaired where necessary. No archaeological remains were discovered during this work. {italon}AIP{italoff} |
