Abstract: |
The assessment concluded that historical evidence suggested that the study area was undeveloped until the 18th century after which it became an area of mixed residential and commercial occupation. No direct evidence of archaeological activity within the assessment area was uncovered, however, it was patently clear that the site was situated in an area of archaeological importance, containing, not only rare evidence of Romano-British occupation in central Bristol, but also the former estate of the medieval priory of St. James.
