Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation, consisting of the excavation of a total area of 2526.3 sq. m, traced elements of Bronze Age settlement, a Roman road and parts of a Roman field system. Echoing work carried out immediately to the east at Stonald Field, the site presented an opportunity to investigate the relationship between contemporary prehistoric occupation and Whittlesey's western fen-edge. The new Roman road represented an alternative route of the Fen Causeway that corresponded with a trackway earthwork north of Moreton's Leam. [Au(adp)] |
