Abstract: |
A watching brief conducted on groundworks for a new sewer rising main to the south of the SAM of Brampton Roman settlement found no evidence relating to this period. A single feature of uncertain origin was located but 44 worked flints dated to the later Neolithic or earlier Bronze Age were collected. These indicated prehistoric activity and the likelihood of contemporary settlement in the near vicinity. Numerous items were recovered through metal detecting, including two coins, although most proved to be modern pieces. [Au] |
