Abstract: |
Evaluation by trenching was undertaken at Aston Eyre Old Hall prior to the conversion of farm buildings to agricultural use. A medieval floor in the solar of the hall was a significant find, other floors elsewhere had been worn away or removed in the 18th century. It was recommended that the medieval floor be restored and protected beneath the new development. It was strongly suspected that important archaeological deposits survived in the area between the gatehouse and the hall, it was recommended that disturbance be kept to a minimum in that area. A more detailed phased sequence of the buildings was suggested as well. [AIP] |
