Abstract: |
At the request of English Heritage, that groundworks for a new lighting column and cable trench in St Mary's Churchyard were archaeologically monitored. The scope of the present project was extremely limited. The work demonstrated that the top and subsoil had been frequently disturbed over time, as would have been expected in a graveyard, and several fragments of disarticulated human bone were collected for reburial. A number of redeposited chalk surfaces were recorded in the sections which may have represented earlier path surfaces and were likely to have been post-medieval in date. [Au(abr)] |
