Abstract: |
An evaluation within the scheduled area of Rewley Abbey in advance of development revealed more information about the site's past. Reclamation of the land in the area assessed was shown to have come after the construction of the abbey in the 13th century. No major parts of the abbey were located, conflicting somewhat with earlier interpretations of the site's layout. A riverside wall associated with the abbey was dated to the 15th century. Generally, archaeological preservation was poor.[AIP] |
