Abstract: |
Conversion from former farm to residential buildings at Bletsoe Castle Farm necessitated Scheduled Ancient Monument Consent. The scheduled area encompasses a moated site, occupied by a grade II listed Elizabethan building. All ground disturbance was monitered and a limited number of archaeological features were excavated and recorded. It was discovered that the base of the moat still survived beneath the Castle Farm. The backfilling seemed to have occurred gradually during the post-medieval and modern periods. [Sec(abr)] |
